The Council of the European Union, also known as the Council of Ministers, meets in 10 different configurations depending on the policy area being discussed. The Presidency of the Council rotates among the EU Member States every six months. Finland held the Presidency of the Council during the second half of 2019. During its Presidency, Finland hosted 131 international EU-level meetings, along with numerous meetings organized by government agencies and other organizations.

Parliamentary meetings

During Finland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Finnish Parliament hosted seven parliamentary meetings attended by more than 1,000 parliamentarians. Topics included asylum and migration, climate change, and agriculture.
